Asst. Prof. (General Surgery)

Dear Students, Welcome!

I am glad to write these lines to welcome the 5th year MBBS students in the 2nd semester for their Surgery II course.

This sixteen weeks course in surgery-II includes the core knowledge in gastrointestinal & hepatobiliary system, spleen, pancreas, head & neck, and endocrine & breast surgery that should be known to all undergraduate students in the initial years of their training.

The aim of the surgical-II course is to enhance the clinical skills acquired by students in the preceding surgical module in hospital setting in order to enable students to reach differential & final diagnosis. The students are introduced to clinical evaluation of surgical cases relevant to various organs & systems. They are trained to choose the proper investigation & treatment modalities. The basics in pathophysiology of surgical diseases and conditions are taught along with the clinical presentation of such diseases. The subsequent surgical or nonsurgical management of these conditions is also taught with a strong emphasis placed on evidence based medical practice including operative video sessions. I am hopeful that students will advance their learning, understanding & application of surgical principles, & will have wonderful time during this course.
